| Rebates And Incentives
Solar energy systems represent a significant positive investment for either a home owner or business that delivers inexpensive power for decades. With the generous incentives available, that investment is even more affordable. These incentives include a wide range of federal, state and local programs that substantially offset initial costs in the form of tax credits, rebates, grants, loans, leasing and direct equipment sales. These programs, though extensive, can be confusing to identify and understand, then to file the appropriate documents in order to receive your rebates once a system has been installed. The best way to take advantage of these solar energy incentives is to call your local Akeena representative at (888) 253-3628, and Akeena will manage the rebate activities for your new Akeena solar system. Additionally, there is a complete and up-to-date list of state and local programs maintained by a non-profit organization through the link provided, DSIRE, the Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy as well as links further down this page to take you to specific state programs in order to get the latest information available.
The following are some links to state programs.
State Program Summaries:
California Solar Power Rebates And Incentives (effective Jan 1, 2007).
This is a rebate based on the watt output of your system, and the amount that has been previously paid out in rebate from the California Energy Commission. Rebates decline in graduated amounts based on total megawatt installed milestones. Funding has been increased and extended with the California Solar Initiative until 2017. There are different programs based on the size of the solar power system, <100 kW and >100 kW. Note there are also city programs throughout the state Akeena help customers take advantage of.
Connecticut Solar Power Rebates and Incentives
Also based on the watt size of the system with a maximum rebate of up to $25,000 for residential installations (up to 5kW). Connecticut allows municipalities the option of offering property tax exemptions for solar (photovoltaic) energy systems (varies from one municipality to the next.)
New Jersey Solar Power Rebates And Incentives
As well a rebate based on the watt output size for systems less than 10kw. For systems over 10kW, a rebate formula applies at different rates per watt for 10kW to 40kW, and a lower rebate per watt for 40kW to 100kW. In addition, solar power systems are not subject to State sales tax.
New York Solar Power Rebates And Incentives
Also a rebate system based on the watt output for systems up to 50kW with a maximum of 60% of the total cost. New York also provides a 25% tax credit for residential solar installations up to $5,000. In certain jurisdictions, the sales tax is waived.
